Swim

Parkview swimmers practice at the Mountain Park Aquatic Center immediately after school ends each day (2:30-4:45 p.m.). There is no bus from Parkview to the Aquatic Center, so swimmers are encourage to head directly to their cars (school normally gives swimmers spaces closest to Miller Road for quicker exit). They can drive themselves, ride with a teammate or have a parent take them to practice. Practice includes dryland exercises and in the water practice.

Year-round swimmers can practice with their clubs.

The first week of practice serves as tryouts, with a time trial at the end of the week. The team is limited on size based on pool space.

Meets are held on Friday evenings, Saturday mornings or Saturday evenings. Most often Parkview swims at Mountain Park Aquatic Center or West Gwinnett Aquatic Center (a bus is provided and required for athletes for meets at West Gwinnett). Parents are a vital part of the meets -- serving in essential volunteer roles that enable the meets to function.

There are 8 individual events and 3 relays held at each meet. Athletes can compete in a maximum of 3 individual and 2 relays at each meet.

Dive

The Parkview Dive Team

practices at the Mountain Park Aquatic Center a few evenings a week from October through January, with the state meet held in early February.

Previous dive experience is not required to try out for the team. Athletes looking to try something new are encouraged to contact Coach Eric Brown to learn more. Athletes can also swim AND dive, with an additional registration fee.

A dive training session is usually held by the GwinnettSwim and Dive Booster Club in October to help orient new swimmers and train parents for volunteer roles during meets.

Some dive competitions are held separate from the swimming competitions during the season, but many occur midway through the swim meets.

Information about dive training and meets can be found on the Gwinnett Swim & Dive Booster Club site.
