Parent of a Freshman or Just New to Parkview Swim and Dive?

Welcome! Parkview Swim and Dive is a great way for your kids to be involved in athletics at Parkview. Our student athletes work hard in the classroom and in the water, but also have a lot of fun with many social get togethers along the way. To help with any questions you might have we have put together the below FAQs.

Q: How much does being on the team cost? Parkview Swim and Dive is one of the most affordable sports to participate in at Parkview.  The cost is $310 to swim or dive or $75 to be a team manager.  A multi-kid discount is available for families with more than one swimmer/diver, the cost of the first athlete is $310 but additional athletes are $280 each.  In addition, we encourage our athletes to purchase a team suit to compete in.  This fee is due at registration.

Q: What do I need to do preseason? Our first day in the water will be 10/15, prior to that we will do some informal pre-season dry land conditioning. There are 3 things your student athlete will need to do prior to ever hitting the water.1. Complete paperwork. Parkview High School athletics uses a site called Dragonfly Max to capture and house the required paperwork, electronic signatures, etc. This process is good for all sports and is good for a 12-month period. Click HERE to learn more about Dragonfly Max or just go to their website. Important: You will need Parkview’s code, it is VWLLH8. 2. Complete physical and upload to Dragonfly Max. All students need a physical to participate in sports – click HERE to get the physical form. 3. Register and Pay for the team. Swim and Dive team registration will open September 10th and will close on September 24th. Registration will be on-line. Refunds will be processed for any students who do not make the team.

Q:Where do I get some Parkview Swim and Dive Swag? During the registration process, you will have the opportunity to buy shirts and other merchandise for you and your athlete from our on-line store. In addition, during this same time frame you will need to purchase a team swim suit for your student. It takes about a month for all merchandise to come in. Note: your student will get a team shirt included with their registration.

Q: Can my kid participate in marching band (or another sport) while being on the swim and dive team? Swim and Dive is a winter sport at Parkview. While it would be hard to participate in another winter sport with Swim or Dive our student athletes can certainly participate in fall sports (including marching band) or spring sports. If this applies to your student athlete, just make sure your kid talks to Coach Brown or Coach Petmecky prior to the start of the season.

Q: Where and when is practice? We practice at Mountain Park Pool. Practice starts at 2:30 PM every day. Swimmers generally carpool to the pool directly from Parkview. To maximize our space in the water, USS swimmers will practice with their club teams. Divers will also practice at Mountain Park. More about their practices will be available soon.

Q: When will the final roster be determined? We will hold time trials on Friday, 10/19 at Mountain Park Pool. The final team will be announced the evening of 10/19.You can find a general list of time standards HERE

Q: When does the competition season start? Our first meet will be Saturday 11/3 and our last regular season meet is scheduled for Saturday 1/19.County and State will follow our regular competition season. All of our meets are on Friday nights or Saturdays at either Mountain Park Aquatic Center or West Gwinnett Aquatic Center.
