This Week at Parkview Swim & Dive, October 12-16

Hi everyone! The swim & dive season officially kicked off Monday as the athletes were in the water for the first time.  Practice continues this week with Time Trials on Friday and announcing the roster this weekend.   We have a very busy pre-season before our first meet on October 30; here's an update on key activities happening over the next few weeks.

ASAP: order your athlete's swimsuit. As of yesterday, only 40 of 77 athletes have ordered their team swimsuit! As a reminder, suit costs are included in registration, but need to be ordered separately. Click here to order and do it as soon as you can to ensure the suit arrives for our first meet.  Warmups are also available on this site for a cost - the last day to order warmups is Wednesday October 13!!

Friday, October 15, 2:30pm: timers are needed for Athlete time trials. We have three signed up and need three more. Time trials take place at Mountain Park Aquatic Center, 1063 Rockbridge Rd, SW, Lilburn.  To sign up, click here to go to the Calendar and click on the green Job Signup button.

Meet Volunteer Training for Parents. There are two days available, and two sessions each day

    • October 16, Mountain Park Aquatic Center
    • October 23, West Gwinnett Aquatic Center, 4488 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, Norcross
    • Please register for which day and which session you will attend by clicking here to go to the Calendar and click on the green Job Signup button.
    • The curriculum and schedule is the same for both days
      • Session A, 9-noon: training for meet setup, tear down, timing and console operation.
      • Session B, 1-4pm: training for operating the computer.  We believe this is online rather than in person, and will confirm that as soon as possible - stay tuned!.
      • Console and Computer Volunteering Is Critical - we need a total of eight volunteers for these roles during the season, four trained on the computer and four trained on the console. New Families - this gets you on the pool deck for the entire meet.  It's a great opportunity to support your athlete - get trained on the console or the computer!
    • You only have to attend one day and I'd suggest Mountain Park on the 16th, since we have the family picnic on the 23rd. You are welcome to attend both training sessions if you wish.

October 19, 6pm: Girls Picnic In the Park, Mountain Park Park.  The girls swimmers and divers will be meeting for dinner.  Bring Your Own Blanket, upperclassmen will bring food, freshmen will bring drinks.    Meet by the rock walls and volleyball court.

Saturday, October 23, 12:30pm-2:30pm: Family Picnic, LDS Church, 1150 Cole Drive, Lilburn. Bring a covered dish and your concessions contribution. Details are available on the team website home page.

Double Good Popcorn Fundraiser, October 23-27. Stay tuned for additional information on this. We'll be kicking off the sale at the picnic; each athlete has a very simple app setup to perform ahead of the sale.

October 30, 7:20pm. First meet vs. Brookwood, North Gwinnett, and Mill Creek, West Gwinnett Aquatic Center!

We will definitely be demonstrating GRIT as we get ready for what promises to be a very exciting season! GO PANTHERS!!!
