Parkview Swim & Dive: October 16

    Hello Panthers!

You’ll be receiving weekly emails throughout the season. They are going to be packed with information – from team captains, coaches and board members. Please take time to read them ... or at least glance through them!

    FOR ATHLETES

    Secret Sisters
Any female athletes interested in participating in this season’s Secret Sister should fill out the Google Doc by the end of the week. Your team captains will follow up with details. Questions? Reach out to team captains Emily Atkins and Hannah-Claire Jowers.

    Fundraiser: DoubleGood Popcorn
The team’s primary fundraiser for the season starts Monday, October 21 at 5 p.m. and ends Friday, October 25 at 5 p.m. Athletes who did not pay the $125 fundraiser opt-out fee at registration, should participate, with the goal of selling $250 worth of popcorn. (If you decide you now want to pay the opt-out fee, please email team treasurer Kim Duffield.)

To participate, athletes should download the DoubleGood app and enter code “OMLSXA” and create their pop-up store. The app is set up for team fundraisers like this one, so it’s easy to use and to send to friends and family via text, email or social media. All logistics are handled by the DoubleGood company – products are shipped directly to buyers. The athletes that sell the most will win a gift card!
Questions? Reach out to fundraiser coordinator Ginger Mercer.

    FOR PARENTS

    Volunteer Trainings: October 19
The final training opportunity for parents willing to serve in the roles of lead setup, lead breakdown, computers or console is this Saturday! Details are on our team calendar and the Gwinnett Booster Club site. Once you complete training, sign up for these roles on the swim meet pages of our website. A BIG thank you to parents willing to volunteer in this way – the roles are essential to the meets.

    Parkview Concession Stand
Once the season begins, you might notice how yummy the swim meet concession stand is when Parkview is the home team (think hot coffee & breakfast burritos for a morning meet). That’s thanks to our awesome parent volunteers and concessions coordinator Trisha Atkins. And (just like summer swim), the more of this yummy food we sell, the more funds for the team. We ask each family to contribute a drink donation of $5 to help fund the concession stand for the season. You can Venmo your family’s donation to Trisha Atkins @trisha-atkins-1

    UPCOMING EVENTS

Parent Tailgate: Saturday, October 26 at 5:30 p.m.
Join fellow Parkview Swim & Dive parents (siblings of athletes are welcomed too) before our first meet for a tailgate! The tailgate will be held in the lower parking lot of the Mountain Park Aquatic Center. Sandwiches & water will be provided – plus, tailgate games & a spiritwear raffle! Bring your own chairs and beverages (no alcohol please). And, in our team meal tradition, parents of male athletes bring a sweet treat to share, and parents of female athletes bring a salty snack to share. This will be a great opportunity for new parents to get to know veteran parents (and ask questions!).
Questions? Reach out to social coordinator Adrianne Leonard.

    Team Meal #1: Friday, October 25 at 6 p.m.
Hosted by families from the Haralson Hills neighborhood, the first team meal will be held prior to the Parkview home football game on October 25. All athletes are invited (and encouraged!) to come. This meal will be held up the street from Parkview at the outdoor pavilion behind the LDS Church on Cole Road. The volleyball court and gym will be available for games and fun.
Menu: Baked ziti, meatballs, salad, bread & drinks
Male athletes please bring a dessert to share.

Team Meals: Two more hosts needed!
Thank you to all the families who responded to our last email about hosts for team meals! We only have two meals that still need hosts: November 1 and the County Meal on January 20. Remember you can host together with neighbors or other families, and the meal doesn’t have to be at your home (maybe a church, park or clubhouse). Please reply to this email if you are willing to host!

    Team Meal Dates:
Friday, October 25 Dinner – Hosted by Duffield, Raffield & Young families
Friday, November 1 Dinner – Hosts needed
Saturday, November 16 Lunch – Hosted by Saye, Drennan & Severcool families
