Parkview Swim & Dive: October 22

    Hello Panthers!

Lots of information in this one! It’s a big, exciting week! And looking ahead to next week, we still need host(s) for the team meal on Friday, November 1. See more info below.

    FOR ATHLETES

    Fundraiser: DoubleGood Popcorn
The team’s fundraiser has started! Between now and Friday, October 25 at 5 p.m. athletes will be selling popcorn through the DoubleGood Store. Each athlete’s goal is $250 in sales – but the more the better for our team! Athletes should have downloaded the DoubleGood app and entered code “OMLSXA” to create their pop-up store. Share with friends and family via text, email or social media. All logistics are handled by the DoubleGood company – products are shipped directly to buyers. The athletes that sell the most will win a gift card!
Questions? Reach out to Fundraising Coordinator Ginger Mercer (Logan’s mom)

    Secret Sister Baskets
Female athletes who are participating in this year’s Secret Sister should fill out the Google form. Mark your preferences and favorites! Questions? Reach out to your team captains.

    NG3 Teamwork Talk: Thursday mornings, 6:45 a.m.
Head to Coach Brown’s room (15.114) on Thursday mornings October 24 and October 31 for a team-building early morning talk. NG3 is a faith-based mentorship program aimed at supporting Next Generation Character, Community, Change. All are welcome! Questions? Reach out to Katie Robinson (Lillie’s mom)

    Team Meal #1: Friday, October 25 at 6 p.m.
Hosted by families from the Haralson Hills neighborhood, the first team meal will be held prior to the Parkview home football game on October 25. All athletes are invited (and encouraged!) to come. This meal will be held up the street from Parkview at the outdoor pavilion behind the LDS Church on Cole Road. The volleyball court and gym will be available for games and fun.
Menu: Baked ziti, meatballs, salad, bread & drinks
Male athletes please bring a dessert to share.

Parkview’s first meet is Saturday, October 26th at 7:20 p.m. Athletes should arrive at 6:15 p.m. The seniors/captains are encouraging everyone to dress up for Halloween. Wear your best (school appropriate) costume to the meet, then be ready to get in the water for warm ups!

Please remember to be on time (note the evening schedule above). Volunteering alongside fellow parents can be one of the most rewarding parts of the season. Results on Meet Mobile
If you enjoy seeing swim meet results during the meet or that day, download the Meet Mobile app. This app does require a subscription, but you can get one for the whole family to share. Meet results will be available on the Parkview Swim & Dive website in the days following the meet – go to that meet’s calendar page.

    Yard Signs & Spiritwear
If you ordered a yard sign for your athlete, they will be available to pick up at the Saturday Parent Tailgate. Spiritwear has shipped! So look for your orange & blue Parkview gear to arrive in your mailbox this week (if you chose to ship to your home) or you can pick up from Spiritwear Coordinator Heather Boyer (Zara’s mom) at the tailgate as well. Athletes should be receiving their team spiritwear this week.

Team Meals: Host needed for November 1
Thank you to all the families who responded to our last email about hosts for team meals! We only have two meals that still need hosts: Friday, November 1, which is NEXT WEEK, and the County Meal on January 20. Remember you can host together with neighbors or other families, and the meal doesn’t have to be at your home (maybe a church, park or clubhouse?). Please reply to this email if you are willing to host!

Parent Tailgate: Saturday, October 26 at 5:30 p.m.
Join fellow Parkview Swim & Dive parents (siblings of athletes are welcomed too) before our first meet for a tailgate! The tailgate will be held in the lower parking lot of the Mountain Park Aquatic Center. Sandwiches & water will be provided – plus, tailgate games & a spiritwear raffle! Bring your own chairs and beverages (no alcohol please). And, in our team meal tradition, parents of male athletes bring a sweet treat to share, and parents of female athletes bring a salty snack to share. This will be a great opportunity for new parents to get to know veteran parents (and ask questions!). Please make plans to join!
Questions? Reach out to social coordinator Adrianne Leonard (William’s mom).

Questions about meets, the season, team, etc.
Especially for our new families this season, we’d love to go ahead and try to answer any questions you have about the season. Reply to this email and send us your questions! No question is too simple or too complicated! Everything from: Do spectators pay to watch high school meets? (answer: no) To why is the team cheer about a rooster? (I have no idea but can try to find out)

    See you at the pool!
